I was looking for adventure and I think that I have found it. The weekend of August 2, 2002, I will be participating in a very special and powerful event in the fight against breast cancer. It’s called the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk.
I’ll walk 60 miles from Boulder to Denver, Colorado along scenic trails and tree lined suburbs with more than 2,000 other courageous people to raise money for breast cancer. The net proceeds from this event will support non-profit breast health programs in every region of the country and cutting edge medical research on breast cancer.
I have agreed to raise $1900 in pledges before July 5, 2002 and I am so excited because I have more than exceeded my minimum, but I don't intend to stop my fundraising efforts. I want to continue to raise as much as possible to take to this event. Therefore I am setting my personal goal at $3,000, but I need your help! Would you consider making a pledge to help me meet my goal before before I leave for Colorado on July 31st?
Please keep in mind how far I will be walking and hard I will have to train between now and August.
Excluding skin cancer, breast cancer is most common cancer in women. Both its cause and the means for a cure remain undiscovered. That is why I have chosen to walk so far. I want to do something big that will challenge me, as breast cancer challenges millions of women. I hope you will share in this incredible adventure with me by supporting my fundraising efforts.
